چکیده

Mediating heterogeneous data sources heavily relies on explicit domain knowledge expressed, for example, as ontologies and mapping rules. We discuss the use of logic representations for mapping schema elements onto concepts expressed in a simplified ontology for cultural assets. Starting with a logic representation of the ontology, criteria for a rule-based schema matching are exemplified. Special requirements are the handling of uncertain information and the processing of hierarchical XML structures representing instances.  2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

An Improved Semantic Schema Matching Approach

Schema matching is a critical step in many applications, such as data warehouse loading, Online Analytical Process (OLAP), Data mining, semantic web [2] and schema integration. This task is defined for finding the semantic correspondences between elements of two schemas. Recently, schema matching has found considerable interest in both research and practice. In this paper, we present a new impr...

Towards Rule Learning Approaches to Instance-based Ontology Matching

Ontology matching approaches have mostly worked on the schema level so far. With the advent of Linked Open Data and the availability of a massive amount of instance information, instance-based approaches become possible. This position paper discusses approaches and challenges for using those instances as input for machine learning algorithms, with a focus on rule learning algorithms, as a means...

Heterogeneous Data Model Integration SIDOS – Architecture and Concept

Data models created to store or exchange data between systems are, by nature, heterogeneous in terms of standards and representation. In this research project, a novel approach called Semantic Markers, along with ontologies are used to integrate the heterogeneous data schema common in manufacturing systems. Once integrated, the schema can provide interfaces for global queries, synchronization a...

A Survey of Schema Matching Research

Schema matching is the process of developing semantic matches between two or more schemas. The purpose of schema matching is generally either to merge two or more databases, or to enable queries on multiple, heterogeneous databases to be formulated on a single schema (Doan and Halevy 2005). This paper develops a taxonomy of schema matching approaches, classifying them as being based on a combin...

An Executive Approach Based On the Production of Fuzzy Ontology Using the Semantic Web Rule Language Method (SWRL)

Today, the need to deal with ambiguous information in semantic web languages is increasing. Ontology is an important part of the W3C standards for the semantic web, used to define a conceptual standard vocabulary for the exchange of data between systems, the provision of reusable databases, and the facilitation of collaboration across multiple systems. However, classical ontology is not enough ...
